The Wisconsin Writers Quilt is a project sponsored by the Friends of the Reedsburg Library to raise money for furnishings to improve the public’s access to technology. The quilt features the handiwork of an enthusiastic group of women from the Friends of the Library who named themselves the “Grandma Volunteers”.

This enchanting quilt was made with paper and individual piecing, hand appliqué and embroidery to resemble a bookshelf filled with books, many including an autograph of one of the 40 featured Wisconsin writers.  The quilt also has bits of whimsy sewn into it, such as a mouse, a bookworm, a hanging “ivy” plant, a teacup filled with flowers and other extras that bring a sense of delight to the viewer.  Next to author Jerry Apps, famous for his books on rural Wisconsin, there is a barn with a barn quilt painted on the door. Singer and author Stuart Stotts’ autograph is sewn on music note fabric. Looking at the quilt, one can see the delight these women had in making it together.  It now hangs in the Reedsburg Public Library where it is a permanent part of the Library’s collection, along with a plaque identifying the quilt's creators and members of the community who provided financial support to keep the quilt in the Library.
